Getting started with Autodesk Fusion
What is Autodesk Fusion
Fusion or previously known as Fusion 360, is a CAD (Computer Aided Design) software by Autodesk. It is mainly used to create precise 3D models, which can then be used to create physical products or prototypes. It is heavily used by hobbyists, engineers and product designers.
Beyond just 3D design and modeling, Fusion can also be used to do the following:
- CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing)
- Conducting a variety of simulation studies
- PCB design
- Rendering
- Basic Animation
- Creating Engineering Drawings
Installing Fusion
- To install Fusion as a student, you must first create an Autodesk student account. The instructions on how to do that can be found here. Please ensure to use your university email address (ending with arts.ac.uk) for creating your account and please use UAL Camberwell or UAL High Holborne credentials to fill out the university details.
- After you have created your autodesk account, you will then need to verify that you are a student. Make sure you have your University ID with you for this process. Instrucitons on what needs to be done can be found here or by following through the instructions from the previous step.
- Once Autodesk has verified your status as a student, you will be will be able to download Fusion. You can do that by going into this link, click
select
under Fusion and then click oninstall
. This will download the installer for Fusion in yourDownloads
folder. To complete the installation, run the installer.
