What is Optical Motion Capture System?

The main key for the optical motion capture system is utilising multiple cameras to track reflective markers or LED markers on the subject’s body.

Optical-Passive System

Passive optical motion capture is the most accurate, flexible and common type of motion capture, including a mocap suit & passive markers. It is also the mocap that most people have in mind.

Passive Markers

This technique uses retroreflective markers that are tracked by infrared cameras. You can adjust the camera threshold, which passive markers will be sampled, and exclude skin and fabric.

Optical-Active System

This technique uses light-emitting LED markers tracked by specialized cameras. Because of this, they need a battery or charger of some kind.
