Inductions, Workshops, and Booking Equipment
All eTextiles inductions and workshops are bookable via ORB. If you have to cancel your booking for any reason, please follow the cancellation policy. If it is:
- more than 24 hours before -> cancel your ORB booking
- less than 24 hours before -> message us on Slack - Rosie for knitting and Agnes for embroidery
There are limited slots for these booking and quite a lot of students! Please be considerate by cancelling your bookings as far in advance as possible if you cannot attend.
Multiple missed booking without messaging beforehand could result in being banned from the eTextiles Lab!!

Booking the Embroidery or Knitting Machine
You must book in order to use either the embroidery or knitting machine. This can be done via ORB. Check out the How to book a space using ORB guide to see how this is done.
Embroidery Machine - Once you have attended the induction, you can book via ORB.
Knitting Machine - If you have qualified on the knitting machine you can book via ORB. However, if you have not qualified, please message either Rosie or Agnes on Slack to book.

Embroidery Machine Inductions
Embroidery machine inductions are bookable on ORB here. The induction runs for around 1.5 hours, please make sure that you are available for the entire time slot.
Knitting Machine Inductions and Workshops
For the knitting machine there are two inductions and four workshops available to attend.

Qualifying on the Knitting Machine
Attending the knitting machine induction does not automatically qualify you to use the machine unsupervised. In order to qualify to you must have:
- Attended the knitting machine induction
- Completed
AssignmentExercise A and had it signed off by Rosie or Agnes
Once you have qualified, you are allowed to use the machine unsupervised (by booking on ORB) and you can now attend some knitting machine workshops. Please take note of the flowchart below to see which workshops you are able to attend.
