Inductions required for the Electronics Lab
The following inductions are available and required for these areas:
Soldering
To use the soldering irons at all, you must complete the mandatory soldering induction:
This induction shows you how to safely use the soldering irons and extraction. It does not teach you how to solder well.
If you do not know how to solder properly and want to learn we recommend watching online video tutorials, reading How To Solder Properly on the wiki or signing up for the Beginner Electronics Workshop (below) after completing the Mandatory Soldering Induction!
Beginner Electronics
This workshop teaches you the absolute basics of circuit theory, how to use a multimeter and bench supply, good soldering technique and how to build a simple stripboard circuit. It's the bare essentials for doing electronics!
They are not mandatory, but are highly recommended for all those new to electronics!
Advanced Electronics
This workshop goes a little deeper with a focus on how to use oscilloscopes. For most students this won't be necessary, but for those that are curious, oscilloscopes are incredibly useful! You should do the beginner workshops first.
