Materials and Filament Rules

Bambu H2D Pro: Materials and Filament Rules

The Bambu H2D Pro printers currently support a limited range of approved materials for health and safety reasons.

Currently Available Materials

At the moment, the standard materials available for the Bambu H2D Pro printers are:

  • PLA
  • Support for PLA

PLA and Support for PLA are currently preferred because they do not produce significant toxic fumes under normal printing conditions and are safer for general Lab use.

PLA Colours and Special PLA Materials

The Lab provides a limited range of PLA colours.

We cannot make every colour available for general use.

If you need a specific colour or a special PLA-based material, you may purchase it yourself from Bambu. This includes materials such as:

  • PLA Basic
  • PLA Matte
  • PLA Galaxy
  • PLA Wood
  • Other Bambu PLA-based filaments

As long as the material is PLA-based and suitable for the machine, it can usually be used.

However, please check with a technician before purchasing or bringing any material into the Lab.

Bringing Your Own Filament

If you need to buy your own material, please make sure:

  1. It is approved by a technician before purchase or use
  2. It is from Bambu
  3. It is suitable for the Bambu H2D Pro
  4. It follows UAL health and safety requirements
  5. It is loaded by a technician

Please do not bring in third-party filament without checking first.

Please do not load, unload, pull, or change filament yourself unless you have been specifically inducted and authorised to do so.

TPU

TPU is temporarily unavailable on the Bambu printers.

This is because the full Bambu printer setup is still being finalised, and we do not currently have enough spare machines for flexible-material testing and troubleshooting.

If you need to print with TPU, please use the Ultimaker printers for now.

Other Materials

If you need to use any material other than PLA or Support for PLA, please speak to a technician before purchasing it.

Do not buy or bring in other materials without checking first, as they may not be suitable for the machine, the Lab setup, or our ventilation conditions.
